Cory Carlyle (Democrat Candidate)
Cory Carlyle is a criminal defense attorney who has written 56 appellate briefs. He was an appellate prosecutor in the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and a trial prosecutor in the District of Columbia Attorney General’s Office. He also worked at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Carlyle received bachelor’s degrees from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2005.
John Browning (Republican Candidate)
John Browning is an attorney who has nearly 30 years’ experience practicing law with extensive trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts throughout Texas. He was appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to the Professional Ethics Committee of the State Bar.
Browning received bachelor’s degrees in history and comparative literature from Rutgers University, and a law degree from the University of Texas School of Law, where he received awards for legal writing and advocacy. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1989.
