Margaret Poissant (Democrat Challenger)
Margaret Poissant has been in private practice since 1985, handling both plaintiffs’ and defense work in personal injury, wrongful death, premises liability, chemical exposure, medical malpractice, and commercial litigation, including DTPA, real estate, breach of contract and fraud matters.
Poissant received a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1985.
John Donovan (Republican Incumbent)
Justice John Donovan has served on the Fourteenth Court of Appeals since 2013. He was judge of the 113th and the 61st District Courts, and is the former director of legal issues for Harris County Judge Ed Emmett.
Donovan received a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas and a law degree from South Texas College of Law, where he was articles editor of the South Texas Law Review and a member of Order of the Lytae. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1985 and is board certified in personal injury trial law.
Donovan was named Judge of the Year by P.O.L.I.C.E. Inc. in 1998 and 2000 and by the Houston Police Officers Union Local 2.
