(Henderson, TX) - Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC today awarded State Representative Chuck Hopson the TLR Civil Justice Leadership Award for his support of a fair and predictable civil justice system in Texas. Speaking to a luncheon in Henderson, TLR PAC Chairman Richard Trabulsi said:

“Chuck has been steadfast in supporting lawsuit reforms that have strengthened the Texas economy and increased access to health care in our state. He has stood up for the best interests of Texas and House District 11 and opposed the powerful Texas Trial Lawyers Association, who push the plaintiff lawyer agenda.”

Trabulsi said State Representative Hopson’s outstanding record on civil justice reform includes his support for the landmark Omnibus Tort Reform Bill of 2003, HB 4, and the critically important 2005 reforms that have largely eliminated abusive asbestos litigation.

TLR PAC’s Civil Justice Leadership Award is presented to lawmakers who take a stand in support of the model lawsuit reforms that are boosting the Texas economy, creating jobs and bringing doctors to every community. State Representative Hopson represents Cherokee, Houston, Panola and Rusk counties. He is Chairman of the General Investigating & Ethics Committee and a member of the Pension Investments & Financial Services Committee and the Public Health Committee.

TLR PAC is the political arm of Texans for Lawsuit Reform, the state's largest civil justice reform organization. TLR is a bipartisan, volunteer-led coalition with more than 17,000 supporters residing in 818 Texas communities and representing 1,266 different businesses, professions and trades.
