(Austin, TX) Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC applauded the Republican Party of Texas today for including a new plank in their platform that will discourage “organizations who do not support the principles of the Republican Party of Texas platform” from contributing to Republican candidates and GOP political action committees. TLR PAC spokesman Sherry Sylvester said:
“Republicans have taken a strong stand against candidates and organizations taking money from political action committees that are funded by personal injury trial lawyers. Plaintiff lawyers provide over 80% of the funding for the Texas Democratic Party and clearly do not support the principles of the Republican Party of Texas. Using deceptive names including “Conservative Voters of Texas,” “Texans for Family Values,” and “Texans for Insurance Reform,” personal injury trial lawyers are trying to trick voters and surreptitiously influence elections.”
