(Austin, TX) - The Texans for Lawsuit Reform Political Action Committee today announced its endorsement of the re-election of Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman.

“Justice Guzman is an astute legal thinker and a conservative jurist who will fairly interpret the law as it is written. Her legal knowledge and extensive judicial experience are assets to the Texas high court,” said TLR PAC Chairman Richard Trabulsi, Jr. “Gov. Rick Perry has consistently appointed judges who are honest, hard working and conservative. Justice Guzman is the most recent example.”

Perry appointed Justice Guzman to the Supreme Court in October, 2009. She was an Associate Justice on the Houston-based Texas 14th Court of Appeals where she ruled on over 2,000 civil and criminal appeals and authored hundreds of published opinions.

Justice Guzman has been recognized by many law and community organizations for her service on and off the bench, including recently being named the “Latina Judge of the Year” by the Hispanic National Bar Association. An active member of the legal community, Justice Guzman is also an adjunct faculty member of the University of Houston Law Center.

Trabulsi noted that another candidate for the Texas Supreme Court seat in the Republican primary, Justice Rose Vela of the 13th Court of Appeals in Corpus Christi, also is well qualified and has a solid judicial record. "Justice Vela's judicial insight and clear legal reasoning are assets to our appellate jurisprudence," Trabulsi said.
