David Evans (Republican Incumbent)
Justice David Evans has served on the Fifth Court of Appeals since 2013. He is former district judge in the 193rd Judicial District Court, former Local Administrative District Judge of Dallas County, former presiding judge of the Civil District Courts of Dallas County and a former judge in the Dallas County Court at Law No. 1.
Evans received bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and Greek from the University of Connecticut, where he graduated cum laude, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. He also studied Hebrew and Greek studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1982.
Evans is a life fellow of the Texas and Dallas Bar foundations, a former member of the Texas Center for the Judiciary Curriculum Committee, a former instructor at the Texas College for Judicial Studies and a former adjunct instructor in law at the Emory University Law School Trial Techniques Program. He was named Trial Judge of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2005.
