Texas’ economy—the strongest in the nation—depends on a stable legal system and fair, honest and competent judges. Activist judges who legislate from the bench undermine the rule of law and jeopardize jobs and economic growth.
In Texas, we the voters have the power to choose who will serve as judge. On the ballot this November are three Texas Supreme Court positions, three Texas Court of Criminal Appeals positions, 32 contested positions on the intermediate courts of appeals and hundreds of trial court positions.
Because the Texas Supreme Court and Court of Criminal Appeals each accept only about 100 cases per year, the judges on Texas’ 14 intermediate appeals courts are the final decision-makers in many of the most consequential legal issues in our state, including cases that affect our economy, education system and public safety.
Activist judges create uncertainty in the legal system. In other states, activist judges have declared important tort reforms invalid. We must not assume that could not happen in Texas.
TLRPAC-endorsed judicial candidates have experience and integrity. They enforce our criminal laws and decide civil cases efficiently and fairly. They apply the constitution and laws as written. They respect the policymaking role of the Legislature and do not legislate from the bench.
When you cast your ballot this November, vote to protect the rule of law and the Texas Miracle of economic and job growth by voting for TLRPAC-backed judicial candidates.
