Kathy Cheng (Democrat Challenger)
Kathy Cheng is an attorney, counselor, arbitrator and mediator at law and a managing member of Cheng and Associates PLLC.
Cheng received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University-Shreveport and a law degree from the South Texas College of Law. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2000.
Jeff Brown (Republican Incumbent)
Justice Jeff Brown has served in Place 6 on the Texas Supreme Court since 2013. He formerly served on the 14th Court of Appeals in Houston and as district judge of the 55th District Court of Harris County. Brown served as a law clerk to two justices of the Texas Supreme Court, including then-Justice Greg Abbott.
Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from the University of Houston, where he graduated magna cum laude and served as chief note and comment editor of the Houston Law Review. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1995 and is board certified in civil trial law.
