Gisela Triana (Democrat Candidate)
Judge Gisela Triana is judge of the 200th Civil District Court in Travis County. She is the former judge for Travis County Court at Law No. 5 and the Austin Municipal Court, and a former Travis County justice of the peace. She previously served as the trial division director and a prosecutor for the Travis County Attorney’s Office and as a staff attorney in the Texas Secretary of State’s Office Election Division.
Triana received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas San Antonio, where she graduated magna cum laude, and a law degree from The University of Texas School of Law. She has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 1988.
Mike Toth (Republican Incumbent)
Justice Mike Toth was appointed to the Third Court of Appeals by Gov. Greg Abbott in 2018. He is former special counsel in the Texas Attorney General’s Office, where he also served as special counsel to the first assistant attorney general and former senior counsel for special litigation. He was a military attorney in the U.S. Marine Corps. He clerked for Justice Edith H. Jones on the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice Ursula Ungaro in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Florida.
Toth received a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University, and a master’s degree in history and law degree from the University of Virginia. He has been licensed by the State Bar of Texas since 2016.
Toth is endorsed by TLRPAC, the Texas Civil Justice League PAC, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and former Texas Supreme Court justices Scott Brister, Tom Phillips and Raul Gonzalez, among others.
